Hi guys,
Thanks for the wonderful time with some of you at the zoo and all the memories captured on Karen's blog. Alvin, you should share your pictures too.

I would need some volunteers to attend an NYAA award giving ceremony next Thursday (5 Oct) at 2.30 pm in NYP auditorium. NYAA is a good platform for you guys to gain CCA points to boost your resume when you look for job later. Students get to do community work, outward bound activities and more. This year, SCL has 10 persons who got the prestigious NYAA Gold... do go and have a look at what they did. We will need a minimum of 2 persons to represent your class. If you are keen, let your class reps know by Monday (2 Oct).

Meanwhile, your timetables for next semester should be out on 2 Oct. After a good rest, some of you should be all ready to go for the next semester. As I will not be teaching you all next semester, feel free to look for me anytime for tea break or any problems. All the best for the next semester!

Two announcements:

(1) All of you will be helping out with Open House 2007 next semester. As some of you might have remembered, Open House is when we showcase NYP to the secondary schools i.e. your potential juniors next year. We are going to print T-shirts for all helpers soon. To do that, we need you to tell us your T-shirt size... either XS, S, M, L or XL. Please go to Giordano or Hang Ten and look at their basic T-shirt sizes if you are not sure what fits you. I will need you to tell Karen or Mark your T-shirt sizes by Wednesday 13 Sep.

(2) Some of you might have heard of the local movie "Singapore Dreaming" that is currently screening. You can now catch the movie and count it as an NE activity. What you will need to do is to: (1) Watch the movie (2) Keep the ticket stub (3) Write a three-point film review on the movie, attach the ticket stub and submit to me by first day of next semester. This activity is optional but if you like to watch movies, why not just do this rather than be forced to attend NE talks that you don't like later on?

For those who are asking, the SCDA Herb Preservation project will be counted as 1 NE activity + 1 CCA point (instead the original 3 NE activities as we thought the work required is not as intensive as planned). There is still a last group of students whose help will be needed when the final batch of herbs arrive later.

I saw your class outing to the zoo. Do have fun and it is a pity that I cannot join you as I will be at work. Remember that you can only claim $4 per person for those who are going, keep your receipts and sign on a class list as proof of attendance. Also, you can only claim one activity per year as a class... so make sure more of you participate to make it worth the while.

Okok....Mr ong said something about class gathering/outing/meeting/whatever. I was just thinking....how about everyone go visit the ZOO?!? Yea...Just imagine! Its been such a looong loooooong looooong time since you last step into that beautiful and colourful environment (lets just forget the scent for a second here). Your last visit was probably in your primaries. So why not visit it now and at the same time, contribute to singapore tourism board? Such a great idea right? So how about it?

Date: 19th september.
Time: Yet to be confirm. Tentatively about 12pm.

Haix! (Can anyone tell me why is "hi" now spelt as "haix"?)

This is my first time posting on the class blog. Great to read so many happenings in your scandalous class... I am still wondering about the "scandalous" bit - your class rep refused to tell me more :P

Anyway, hope that all of you are enjoying your holidays now. It would be a well deserved rest for all of you, having survived the "@!#@!#" physical chemistry paper among others. Surely the phy chem paper wasn't that bad, was it?

In case you guys are planning any chalets, BBQ or major class outings, let me know. Also to let you know that NYP have a mentor group activity fund that you can claim for class outings once a year @$4 per head. To claim this money, you need to keep all receipts and mark attendance for the activity using a standard class list. Then pass me the receipts and class list for claiming from the fund.
